COMPANY ORIGIN:

Highland Glen Manufacturing, Inc. was established in a basement in Toronto, Ontario Canada in 1967 as International Key Fob Limited. The word "Fob" comes from the term "Watch Fob" that is derived from an old term used in Great Britain at the turn of the century describing a pocket watch with a chain that hung across a gentleman's waistcoat. The company then moved to a 2,000 square foot storage space in Buffalo, New York in 1972. In 1975 the company moved to a 10,000 square foot facility in Buffalo and changed it's name to Key Ring Supplies, Inc.

Starting to manufacture other products by the early nineties the name of the company was limiting, as they then sold more than just key rings. In 1993 it changed it's name from Key Ring Supplies, Inc. to Highland Glen Manufacturing, Inc. The owner, Robert Mathieson being of Scottish descent, chose this name as a symbol of his homeland. Glen is derived from the ancient Scottish Gaelic term "Gleann" which means a small secluded valley, and a Highland Glen is a small valley with flowing green grass surrounded by the hills (or the Highland's) of Scotland.

When the company started in 67', the owner and his wife were the sole manufacturer's, distributor's and sellers of their products. Supplying small key shops and independant stores throughout Southern Ontario with quality novelty key rings.

Today, Highland Glen has grown from a husband/wife team working in their basement to a staff of nearly fifty in its three different divisions. Currently the company has a 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant, a 10,000 square foot display division, and a 15,000 square foot facilty to house it's in house printing operations.

With a wide array of key ring styles, some of today's hottest licensed properties and a great selection of novelties, Highland Glen has grown to be the largest manufacturer of key rings in North America. Manufactured in their Buffalo, New York facilities by a dedicated staff their name brand "Chain Reactionsª", licensed, novelty and custom key rings are sold in 25 countires worldwide.
